Kasey Kasem, the original voice of "American Top 40" from 1970 to 2004 has passed away after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease and dementia.

His family, who had been given custodial care of Kasem after a battle with his 2nd wife, said he passed away in Washington this morning.

In addition to his radio shows, Kasem was also a cartoon character voice, including that of "Shaggy" in Scooby Doo.

He was 82.
