A South Florida caregiver nabbed for stealing nearly $1 million from an elderly woman reportedly gambled away more than $8 million at the Magic City Casino.

Coral Gables Police detectives Marie Petit-Louis is  facing a charge of exploitation of the elderly following her arrest.

Her bond is set at $250-thousand-dollars.  She's being held on an immigration warrant.

According to police reports, several calls to Fidelity Investments identify that Petit-Louis posed as Annette Reff and had checks mailed to the home, and would then deposit the checks into her Wells Fargo account.

The reports also says she told officers that Reff gave her the money willingly, but Reff's daughter said that isn't true.

It is unclear where she got the additional money to gamble with.

Reff is now deceased.
