A veteran Broward Sheriff's Office deputy is busted on drug charges.
   

40-year-old Deputy Eduardo Mesa is charged with armed trafficking in hydrocodone, drug possession, grand theft of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence and official misconduct/falsifying public or court records.

He's accused of taking a suitcase and other belongings from a man who died after being hit by a train.

BSO public corruption detectives found a prescription bottle containing hydrocodone  labeled with the train victim’s name.
  

Mesa is suspended without pay and being held without bond at Broward's main jail.
