A large chunk of Pembroke Pines is under a precautionary boil water order.

City officials issued the notice late Thursday night after completing the repairs of a broken, 16-inch water main on Pines Boulevard and Southwest 145th Avenue.

People between I-75 west to U.S. 27 are asked to bring their water to a rolling boil for at least a minute before drinking it.

It should take a couple of days for contamination tests on the water to come back.
